Nicki Minaj thought she was “going to die” after having an abortion.
The Anaconda singer opened up about the traumatic time in her life to the latest issue of Rolling Stone. While she made the decision as a teen, it is something that still affects the 32-year-old to this day.
“I thought I was going to die. I was a teenager. It was the hardest thing I’d ever gone through,” she revealed.
“[It] haunted me all my life. It’d be contradictory if I said I wasn’t pro-choice. I wasn’t ready. I didn’t have anything to offer a child.”
Nicki found out she was pregnant to her first love while attending the prestigious Manhattan performing-arts high school LaGuardia.
She first rapped about the experience on a track called “Autobiography” that she “didn’t expect anyone to hear.”
